The Weather Lab is watching northern Arkansas and extreme southern Missouri for possible snow accumulation late tonight through early afternoon Thursday.
The latest arctic airmass is supplying enough cold air to this area to make the northern portion of a developing shield of rain capable of changing to sleet or snow.
The factors for determining snow totals are how much rain and/or sleet will be mixed with this precipitation and what will be the intensity.
Look for at least the possibility of a few inches of snow in the northern tier of counties in Arkanas including the cities of Harrison, Mtn. Home, Salem, Jasper and Marshall.
This is forecast to begin as rain and make the changeover sometime overnight tonight.
GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE. Yet again if you havent felt the 30 to 35 degree drop well step outside cause winter is still trying to hold on. I just can not believe the setup we are in for the overnight hours tonight. This reminds me of denver colorado where it can go from 80s to 30s in the matter of hours. Yet we will be getting some snow tonight across northern arkansas and southern missouri. Hpc has painted at snow for tonight and tommorrow for us. Kinda intrested on what little rock nws is going to do about headlines.... prolly at least a winter weather advisory. they do have winter storm watches out just north of little rock but only covers a few counties (conway) stay tuned as the crazy weather continues...
ReplyDeletejust looked at gfs and nam models nam has a better handle on the situation unfolding and has painted 3 to 4 inches across northern arkansas. But this is all dependent on if it comes as all snow or rain/snow mix and so on.. But the air has dryed out where i am at. right now it is 40 degrees with a dew of 21 so if we can get some evap cooling in here. you never know...
